Curriculum

At The Barn School, teachers follow an emergent curriculum model that allows educators to tailor learning experience to student skill sets.

Work journals, Project-based learning, interdisciplinary teaching

Each classroom uses journals in which students write about their learning, reflect, and make connections between lessons. Through project-based learning, students have an opportunity to identify areas of interest and engage in independent research projects while being supported by teachers with planning, access to resources, and developing presentations for peers. Finally, teachers use an interdisciplinary approach to encourage students to make connections between lessons from various content areas, extracurricular classes, and over the course of a student’s education at The Barn School.
Below are some photos of Barn School students past and present engaging in some of this learning!
